At first I thought it was just my old age

but then I realized a fact I could not block

the young folks talk at clock breaking speed

a flock of jabberwocky jabber jabber-wock

She hopped & skipped right over periods

we knew it should have been right there

she blathered on as if reporting of the news

should not pay attention or dare to care

For only the words prompted on the script

seemed to matter, only that the rain or shine

would illuminate our weather report today

emotion will be left, for it belongs behind

Emphasis is not on the poetry of word

that dance that once sang upon our lips

like the partner less thing called dance

where not as important and arms or hips

she shot down a punctuation so

she would not break down her stream

as if she needed to beat the clock

faster so she would not scream

Faster faster did it all go, hip terms

burst upon our ears, multi-syllabic words

seem are out of fashion now oh me oh my

and acronyms burst out like wild birds

As if we should know the meaning

for which each letter stood like military men

marching across our consciousness so bright

a goose step for each LETTER that began

Preach daily idioms of a butchered tongue

Oh, oh where has language gone away now

in tunes that are beat but never at all sung

jabbed out like hip hopping doggies moo cow!
