What? Halloween! Again?



O yes, it happened then he fell apart

 not feather or furred,  bald not bold

ready for cooking pan or pot, not pen

freezing in meandering October cold


What does that mean to those

who have full feather or fur skins

not naked without a holy decent frock

to keep them committing naughty sins?


For some think that All Hallows Eve

is a playground for God-made Satan

an angel that he made frightening

he did not want you with him mating


No siree  billy bob, so Jesus said

or was his mouthpiece Holy Saul Paul

who knew him not but embroidered

all the scripture we were taught?


Or some old testament book taken

by one of those prophets so sweet

who learned to speak King James’s words

so that devil Satan we can defeat?


Do you remember what fun it was

to be a kid on that dress up day

wearing costume, those silly clothes

to get neighborly candy so they say


Lord almighty it was such a feat

to knock and greet “trick or treat”

laugh as they praise your costume

saying yours could not be beat!


They fill us up with chocolate

more heavenly than satanic

if you smile a grin just right

it may be sweet and romantic


To receive those lovely candies

corny as they may get you bet

to have a bag take home just

for dressing up without regret


In any form you may fashion

be it witch or ghost or your hero

for out into that crazy dark world

loving laughs, sweet candy say “hello”!


Happy All Hallows Eve friends

may you find it fun like a kid

the world every day is a horror show

watch the news, and you know it did


Adults administer the fright and pain

in bombs, guns, beguiling hateful words

so do forget that devil guy adults made

but watch out for your sovereign lords!
