Oh, how I want to be a Tiger, she said
Smilidon . . .She Knew in 4th grade
When she first saw them
read it
about them
those Sabertooth tigers
that was what she wanted to be
that snarling face, those teeth
oh, yes those two long sabers
which slid from the mouth
stabbing blades
which tasted the blood of flavor
of the whole essence of the bounty
of the food of live
whose body and breathing became yours
as you emptied the shell of their being
oh, yes not just a tiger
but a cat that lived before those striped wonders
in an age where there were no men
human men who sliced their lives
the dominance of living
away
away
away
Yes she would be that tiger
so beautiful, so strong
to bring home to the family
to nurture the flock
the tiger of pride, of beauty
assailing the world with splendor
growling, roaring to the moon, the star
the sky . . . to life
[Work in progress
and yes, shes are hes and hes are shes when we
all become human children --
a day before 77
