Shadows on the Hillside/Hospital Meditation
The Waterfall
He fell beneath a waterfall of laughter
handrails had been advised
but still he listened only
to the lullaby of lies
He needed the warmth of the human heart
for his had fallen away
His love had been a radiant smile
as large as his personal Chesapeake Bay
Loud laughter stood like a well
blocking heath of truth and heart
His world seemed a scary place
as it rapidly, raw and rotten, fell apart
His sky is filled with the gray of doubt
though he knew it once was blue
flashed with azure and golden hope
with a map, sweet map, of a holy route
To bring to the world he sought
his gift a return of love so kind
that held him in a primal warmth
that holding coddle of mother born
And not the waterfall he faced
filled with tears of loss
heartbeat asunder with fear of thunder
frightened laughter filled with hope
