My last day at the Guild

in the Back Room Gallery

taking down Vermont Outdoors

Peggy Watson’s paintings

uniquely solitary,

letting you walk in

even when populated

often blossoming in 3 dimensions

bikes flying off the canvas

plants poking through surfaces

pumpkins in patches


We talk of how we paint

drawn by spirit, soul speaking/seeking

she says “Paintings are our measure,

our message,

the message the world gives us.”


There they hang

On the wall

commerce not the goal

not a way to pay

the rent

but to feed the inner resonance

that makes our lives whole
