Apple


Adam ate the apple

the first upon this earth

teased that it was a curse

to blame on Eve

who gathers nightfall in her arms

to spread across the sky

lights it with the beams of star filled hope

for generations eternal, far and wide


The man provoked the will of God

to make it all a lie

so that he alone may rule the roost

a cock crowing in the morn

to awaken earth once again

to toil as he demands

threatening with darkness and death

Lord over all, in his masterly disguise

in armor fierce and hard

(the snake we know was he)
